Management Team
The Biolactis management team comprises the following members:
Pierre Lemieux, Ph.D., President and CEO
Co-founder, more than 10 years of international experience in fundamental and industrial research applied to Biotechnology and Health (14 Patents and 35 Publications).
Dr. Lemieux has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and a Post-doctoral fellowship from the University of Texas Health Science Center. His medical fields of expertise are oncology, immunology, and genomics with an international experience (U.S.A., Europe - France, U.K.) in the pharmaceutical industry involved in activities ranging from R&D, Clinical Trials, Business Development, and Financing (Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Supratek Pharma). Dr. Lemieux is a major contributor to the development and growth of Biolactis. He is a board member of BioQuebec, a Biotechnology and Life Science Industry Association representing more than 250 member companies and R&D Centers in Quebec.
Eric Simard, Ph.D., Vice-President, Operations
Co-founder, inventor of the BiolActis original fermentation process, specialist in microbiology and in the structure-activity relationship of proteins.
Dr. Simard is a Ph.D. graduate from INRS-Institut Armand Frappier, Canada. Dr. Simard has overseen the activities of the company since its inception, and has been involved with Technological Development, Production and Operations. He has also directly contributed in the Financing and Partnering processes of the Company over the past 10 years.
Marc Lalonde, Vice-President, Corporate Business Development
International expert in the field of Nutraceuticals, Dietary Supplements and Probiotics. Over 25 years of experience in Global Marketing and International Business Development.
Mr. Marc Lalonde joined Biolactis in September 2007. He brings a successful track record, which includes the development and launch of over 250 original Natural Health Products in more than 25 countries in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia in the Health Food and Pharmaceutical sectors. Over the past twenty-five years Mr. Lalonde has been responsible for the negotiation of several global and regional Distribution and Licensing Agreements with major companies of both sectors. From 2000 to 2007, he built commercial alliances for Harmonium International Inc. with international distribution partners in more than 20 countries. Prior to his work at Harmonium, he held senior management positions as Vice–President, Worldwide Business Development with Neks Technologies and Institut Rosell of Montreal. Mr. Lalonde is a graduate of Montreal University in Human Sciences.
Éric Trottier, Ph.D., Director of Research & Development
Dr. Trottier is a Ph.D. graduate in Biology from Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. He has a Post-doc Fellowship from the Institute of Signaling, Developmental Biology and Cancer (INSERM 6543) from Nice Sophia Antipolis University in France. Dr. Trottier was involved in the start up of two Biotech Companies (Viridis Biotech Inc. and Imotep Inc.) where he held responsibilities as Vice-President, Operations and Research Director respectively. His record of published scientific articles and communications deals with various aspects of liver metabolism and cancer.
Jean-François Lapointe, Ph.D., Director of Clinical Affairs
Dr. Lapointe completed a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from Laval University in Quebec City and received a Post-doc Fellowship from INRS-Institute Armand-Frappier, the most important Health Research center in Eastern Canada. Dr. Lapointe is specialized in protein and peptides characterization/formulation and has an impressive track record of published scientific articles and communications dealing with various aspects of milk protein and bioactive peptides. Dr. Lapointe is now involved in the logistics and management of the Biolactis Clinical Trials.
Robert Pepin, Finance Director, Controller
Skilled manager with over 20 years of experience in financing and operations in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Accounting specialist: CMA Executive Program from l’Ordre des CMA du Québec. Joined Supratek Pharma Inc. (Biotech start up) in 1999 and went to Theranostics Inc. in 2002 where he managed private investments and completed all duties with respect to R&D income Tax, Subsidies and Grants.
