Mark Pierce, MD, Ph.D.

Dr Pierce is a specialist in endocrinology and metabolism at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, and USA. Dr. Pierce is a former Assistant Professor of Medicine from Harvard Medical School and a specialist in Internal Medicine.

Dr Pierce worked at Pfizer Global, Research and Development (2000-2005), as senior vice-president in charge of global clinical research.

As a BiolActis scientific advisor, Dr Pierce is involved in the design of clinical trials to demonstrate and validate health benefits of BiolActis products.

Professor Jean-Louis Maubois, Ph.D.

Professor Maubois is an engineer in agronomy and in dairy science.  He is also the former Director of National Institute for Agronomy research (INRA, France) and head of the Dairy Research Laboratory of Rennes, with projects for INRA in China and South America.

Professor Maubois has more than 200 publications in dairy products and technology, and he’s certainly one of the most recognized international specialists in the dairy field.

As a BiolActis scientific advisor, Professor Maubois use his knowledge and experience in the dairy field for the development of high potential applications and technological advances.

Professor Jean-Marie Bard, Ph.D.

Professor Bard is associated with the Pharmacy Faculty, Biochemistry Laboratory of Nantes University in France. Professor Bard is also affiliated to the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) of Nantes, as a specialist in blood lipids.

His numerous publications and presentations (200) concerning the metabolism of blood lipids and functional food products make him an important contributor to the understanding of the different mechanisms of action of BiolActis products and metabolism.

Helen Bishop MacDonald, nutritionist

Helen Bishop MacDonald is a nutritionist and author, with a Masters degree in nutrition from Michigan State University.  She has an extremely colourful and diverse career history including: nutritionist for the Calgary Flames, the '88 Olympics, nutrition columnist for Canadian Living Magazine, lecturer at Mount St. Vincent University and Dalhousie University, Assistant Professor at Université de Moncton, independent nutrition consultant and nutrition researcher.

She is the author of "Eating for the Health of It" and co-author of "The Total Fibre Book" (with Marg Fraser) as well as "Eat Well, Live Well, Canadian Dietetic Association's Guide to Healthy Eating" (with Marg Howard). Her most recent book is “The Everyday Calcium Cookbook: Calcium-Rich Nutrition for Whole Body Health”. 

Her work as a researcher resulted in the publishing of six research papers on topics including obesity and weight loss, and a literature review on the role of conjugated linoleic acid.  She was Director of Nutrition for Dairy Farmers of Canada for eleven years.

In 1987, she was presented the General Foods Award for Excellence in Nutrition Communications.  She is a charter fellow of Dietitians of Canada and is Past Chair of the Board of that organization.

Jean-Yves Dionne, Pharmacist

Mr. Dionne teaches at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Laval University, Montreal University and at the School of Higher Education in Naturopathie of Quebec.

Mr. Dionne is specialized in natural health products.  He has more that 20 years of experience in this field and is recognized today as one of the leaders in the integration of the various therapeutic approaches for the benefit of patients.

Mr. Dionne brings his knowledge and his vision to BiolActis for an optimal development of BiolActis products in the field of food supplement, nutraceuticals and natural health products.

Gunnar Weikert, MD, Ph.D., MBA

Dr Weikert is the Chairman, CEO and Founder of Inventages Venture Capital Investments Inc, an international investment group with a focus on cutting-edge life science and health science research and technologies.

Dr. Weikert is the business development advisor of BiolActis. Before founding Inventages, Dr. Weikert had more than 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. In his last position, he was a senior vice president and global head for life science deals at Bayer AG. While at Bayer, Dr. Weikert oversaw venture investments in technology companies and collaborations representing some of the biggest deals between big-pharma and biotechnology in the late 1990's.

Gary Littlejohn, BAA, MBA

Mr. Littlejohn is the president of Valeur Mobilière Desjardins. He is also the former executive Vice-president and head director of Ecopia Biosciences inc.

Mr. Littlejohn was the managing Director and Head of Investment Banking-Quebec for TD Securities Inc. He was also a member of the Board of Governors of the Montreal Exchange and a member of the Executive Committee.

Mr. Littlejohn is the financial advisor of BiolActis.  He has worked on a wide variety of transactions over the years, ranging from initial public offerings, private and public debt and equity transactions, privatizations of crown corporations, structured finance as well as merger and acquisition assignments.
